Sara Gruen on WFE the movie: “I work with words, but at this moment I am without words”

From Sara's facebook, Sara & Rosie! Best set picture of Rosie to date 🙂

Sara Gruen, author of ‘Water For Elephants‘ (we all know this at this point, right?), shared some touching info on her facebook page the other day:

Did our cameos yesterday for the movie! Long day–actors work HARD! And I don’t mean us, I mean the real actors (some of the extras had been there for sixteen hours by the time we left). Magical. Beautiful. I’m going to be absorbing this experience for a long time. Thank you THANK YOU to all the people who are making this movie happen. xoxo

She followed up that status update with:

I’m really overcome by all the talent and hard work that went into this movie. I did it for three days; you did it all day every day for three and a half months. I bow to you, and am truly speechless. Thank you. Just thank you. I hope you all know what this means to me. I work with words, but at this moment I am without words. xxoo

This must truly be an author’s dream come true…to see your story come to life. We couldn’t be happier for you, Sara, and the fans are going to make WFE a huge success 🙂

  • She’s brilliant and I’m so happy she’s enjoying herself right now – I can’t imagine how exciting this must be for her! 🙂

  • My book club read WFE earlier this year and it’s one of our favorites. We can’t wait to see the film! And, being fans of Robert Pattinson, we’re also really excited about him playing Jacob. 🙂

  • What a perfect quote about her experience.

  • So sweet & I love the pic!

Thank you Sara for the most awesome story I have read in a very long time. Was a truly awesome experience and now just can not wait for the movie which I know will be a worldwide success. Congrats on the movie as well; without you there never would have been a movie……..
    Keep writing!

Ms. Gruen, I enjoyed your book, Water for Elephants, and I’ve told many people that they should read it. My sister now has an interest in the old circuses and is researching more about them. I cannot wait for the movie. I am a Robert Pattinson fan also, so I am doubly excited. A good movie comes from a good book! Thank you so much for writing WFE and I will be looking for more of your books!

Glad you had your chance of stardom too (considering what an excellent book you wrote), you must be a movie star on the making. Thank you for such an amazing story! WFE is one of my favorite books- and so excited about the movie… I think Rob and Reese will be absolutely amazing in the movie!!! Can’t wait…

  • RD

I remember when Rob said that happened to him.

  • Ashley

Hello I’m a big fan of your book and I am also a circus performer but I was wondering who was going to play the part of the circus girl on the movie? I would have love to go and auditon for that part but I’m pretty sure u guys already chose another actress. I’m currently working on a show now and I’m practicing my trapeze as well. But acting has always been in my heart and If I knew about this I would have loved to audition for this part. I hope u get thiS Sara my name is Ashley and I’m 16.well I hope u can reply back thank you!

  • I too remember RD, when Rob said that that happened to him and he then said it was one of the best days of his life. But I know for sure that I would not like it if an elephant had a hold of me in any way, but you know what I always say?, “to each his own”. And also, now I say “that if Rob say’s it’s okay, then It Is Okay!” Actually, I guess I wouldn’t mind seeing it happen at say a circus, as long as I was pretty far off and just watching…

    Sara:
Your book stirred up all sorts of emotions in me as I read the alternating POVs of young and old Jacob….I laughed, cried, empathised, got upset and generally admired old Jacob’s marbles tremendously! And I hope to be as feisty as he is when I get to that age…lol!

The movie is in good hands, with Robert, Reese, Christoph and the rest of the amazing cast and crew…I’m SO happy you got a chance to have a cameo! What an awesome experience to see your characters come to life!

Looking forward to your upcoming books!
