That’s a wrap! Francis Lawrence finishes filming Water For Elephants

We knew it was coming…

It's a wrap...but he's not going anywhere...

The tweets from August 4, 2010 started at 8:35 pm (EST)

Just shot what is probably our most beautiful train shot… Setting sun, reflections in the water and white steam shooting thru the trees!

The next tweet at 11:51 pm (EST)

Down to the very last shot. Train thru a tunnel at night.

12:32 am (EST)…

Rolling the cameras…

and finally at 12:48 am (EST) on August 5, 2010

That’s a wrap on WFE!!!!!!

It’s hard to really express how this feels. Of course we’re thrilled in the sense that we are that much closer to actually seeing the film…heck actually seeing official stills and then clips and eventually a trailer!

But it’s bittersweet. ‘Water For Elephants‘ filming ruled our summer. It was a major part of our lives and it’s tough to see it end. Mr. Lawrence took the whole experience to a level we couldn’t imagine. I’ve never seen such engagement from a director with the fans. Doesn’t it feel personal now? Don’t you feel emotionally attached to everything WFE? I better get off the “mic” because I could get really reflective right about now and ramble on more than I already have.

We have post production to look forward to now! Francis said he would keep us all updated and we have no reason to believe otherwise. You also know we aren’t going anywhere. There’s so much in store for the blog during post production and we can’t wait to bring it to you πŸ™‚ The excitement and anticipation will only continue to grow!

Thanks as always, @Hibbits πŸ™‚

    Thanks, i’m looking forward

I am so looking forward to this film! Thank you hibbits and WFEthemovie. I have enjoyed the daily experience of moviemaking. Making dreams come true! And of course anything that makes Rob’s presence on the screen. Never have I felt this way about an actor! I have seen all his movies and always will. I like his selections!

  • *sigh* Bittersweet, indeed. Thanks again to everyone associated with this blog, from the Kinkers to the followers to everyone in between. Thanks to the Set Soldiers. Thanks to @Hibbits. But the biggest thanks of all to Rob…without you, there would be no steam in the engine πŸ˜‰

Tink, I’m not going anywhere. Keep any and all information coming – here and on the Bel Ami site. Can’t wait to see what Rob signs on to do next, but I think we all know that this experience will be hard to (big) top. XO

I’m absolutely attached to this film already. It was so great getting all the reports from everyone, fans and cast alike, which was also amazing that the rousties and clowns and actors were into it, too. And the pictures and all the Hibbits tweets. It is pretty amazing that he took time from all that he had going on to keep us informed. I think he’s one in a million, such a thoughtful, sweet man. And you are too, for doing this for us!! I know this movie is going to be fantastic. I’m chompin’ at the bit for it!!

Now, why did this make me cry? I’ve grown so close to this movie thanks to you guys. Hopefully I’ll recover shortly from no more daily updates and gorgeous Rob photos. On to April! Can’t wait for the finished product.

Loved living so close to the filming site in Kensington and having the Director, crew and most of all Rob in our backyard.. I read the book and loved it and I couldn’t think of a better person to be Jacob than Rob.. Met the Assistant Director and some of the crew and they were all such nice people. Thank you all for your updates

Thanks Kinker Tink and all the Kinkers for bringing us the world of WFE in production.
I started this adventure following and supporting Rob but it has become so much more. I discovered this lovely story, got introduced to Tai, go Team Rosie and learned so much about all the hard work, dedication of so many talented folks in front of and behind the cameras.
You said it very nicely, Tink. ITA. This does feel personal. Between the blogs on this site and all the personal stories from the Clowns, Kinkers, Rubes and Rousties, I can’t wait to see them all immortalized on film capturing the moments we have read about. Hope to hear more in post prod. Bring on the trailer! See you at the premiere!

Wow! I have already missed knowing that the whole cast and crew were no longer 15 min away from me all day, everyday for almost two months, driving to work lately has felt so lonely. Now, it’s over for the most part, the daily pics and tweets from the set, so sad….I truly feel like I am loosing a friend. But I am so glad that you Kinkers will still be here for us keeping us posted on the next journey to the theaters and I hope that I will get to see and meet up with some of you at the premiere. I have already had the priveledge of meeting Kinker Tink…she’s cool and I have my Team Rosie Pin to prove it! But I hope that we can all get together in April to celebrate this movie together! I had a blast going out to the set twice and just watching….seeing Rob once and Tai was a great honor! loved it, loved seeing the circus tent up the very next day that @Hibbits tweeted that they had put it up, loved seeing the circus cars unpainted with other circus’ on them before our beloved Benzini Bro’s took over and Mr. Pattinson was sitting in them…..Gosh, it truly has been a beautiful ride. Never have experienced something like this from start to “It’s a Wrap” before. Made some great new friends in the process…Gosh, I could go on and on but I won’t…..so until next time!

I feel so sad that the filming is all over, especially knowing that Christoph is already out of the USA and back in Germany to film The Three Musketeers beginning in September. Everyone did a wonderful job covering the filming and brought all of us so close to the process that I believe we all feel committed to the film and can’t wait for its release!

Francis Lawrence’s tweets and the reports from other cast members created an unprecedented relationship between the film and its audience, one that I hope the directors, casts and crews of other films will consider following. When a film manages to create a loyal following before it’s even released, that’s quite an accomplishment, and not one to be taken lightly.

I want to give special thanks to all the Pattinson fans who were so very nice to those of us from The Christoph Contingent who showed up to see Christoph–me and my son Alex from 6/28 – 6/30 and Sacher, Kelly & Michael from 7/8 – 7/9. We really appreciated all your kindness and support! πŸ˜€

  • The filming wrapped right next to my house (I live in the Glass Farms historic ghetto of Chattanooga). Talk about an unexpected disturbance! It was kind of fun to have the circus train go by my kitchen window a dozen times or more late at night. I had no idea what was going on when all the white vans kept pulling into my driveway to turn around and had to Google the The Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth to figure out that it was a movie being filmed.

    • That’s a great story, Trevor. I don’t suppose you had your camera handy?? We’d love to see pics if you did. πŸ™‚

      • Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos of this event. Sorry – I should have since that’s one of my hobbies.

Surely this is going to be one of the sweetest films ever? The cast, crew and fans have just made it so inclusive and magical.
So grateful to everyone for sharing – including Kinker Tink and the other Kinker girls!
I was a tad tentative about twitter and blogs, but now realise what the Internet was made for! you’ve all made the world seem like a friendlier
    place this summer.
Thanks Rob, thanks @Hibbits, thanks Kinkers! πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for keeping us up-to-date on the filming and I look forward to hearing about post production. It’s something that I don’t usually track when I’m finished with my work on the film. This was a very special project tho’ and I’ll definitely keep checking in.
