RECAP: Positive media buzz for the highly anticipated ‘Cosmopolis’

A week ago, stills photographer, Caitlin Cronenberg, posted the first official still from Cosmopolis. Then Sunday, May 29th marked the start of a slew of set photos this week when Cosmopolis took to the streets of Toronto. These two events created a media frenzy, all giving this art house film early (& free ;)) promotion and attention.

Packinson: World citizen with a New York pair of balls

Here is a collection of excerpts from various online media outlets over the past week, buzzing about the highly anticipated Cosmopolis.

From Collider:

In addition to Pattinson, the film features an exciting cast including Jay Baruchel, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Mathieu Amalric, Kevin Durand, and Sarah Gadon.  The first image from the film was snapped by Cronenberg’s daughter Caitlin, who is a talented photographer in her own right.

From Gordon and the Whale:

Arguably the actor’s most intriguing project, we finally have our first look at his turn in the upcoming David Cronenberg film, COSMOPOLIS, and while it is simply a photo, it does look quite interesting.

From: Cinema Blend:

Rob Pattinson Crushes Handsomeness In New Still From Cosmopolis. God, he’s a suave bastard, isn’t he? If that pile of money they dive into during the Duck Tales credits was made into a suit, haircut and pair of shoes, it would look exactly like the above picture.

From Cineuropa:

There was media excitement this week when shooting started in Toronto on David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, an adaptation of renowned US author Don DeLillo’s homonymous novel. The French/Canadian co-production has a stellar cast including young Brit star Robert Pattinson (Twilight), France’s Juliette Binoche (who has just finished filming Life of Another), fellow French actor Mathieu Amalric, US actor Paul Giamatti, Brit thesp Samantha Morton, and Canada’s Sarah Gadon, Jay Baruchel and Kevin Durand.

From Los Angeles Times:

We like suited-and-booted Pattinson, and the look could go a long way in making him a credible lead in a genre like this.

From The Improper

Robert Pattinson has ditched his disheveled look and three-day beard in his new movie “Cosmopolis.” He looks absolutely rakish with a close-cut, swept-back executive style haircut, a clean shave and starched shirt. David Cronenberg is directing the surreal film, which Rob in the company of some A-list actors, who should help him grow in his craft.
