ARTICLE: David Cronenberg talks Robert Pattinson + Cosmopolis gang shows up at TIFF

While promoting A Dangerous Method, Sarah Gadon already mentioned Cosmopolis and working with David Cronenberg and Robert Pattinson. Now Cronenberg weighed in about the film and casting Pattinson to CBC Live:

Cronenberg didn’t cast Rob because of his tremendous Twilight Saga fame. In fact, he says, it made shooting a little more difficult…

“Actually the fame was a detriment,” Cronenberg told us. “I mean, it’s good for financing – but it’s not necessarily good when you’re on the street and there are a lot of Twihards around. But I think people will be really surprised, I mean, I think he’s a terrific actor and that’s why I went after him.”

Visit the source to read the article in its entirety. TIFF has also been in full swing and looks like a majority of Mr. Packer’s posse showed up.

WOW! Hopefully some pictures pop up that we can post. Especially Juliette Binoche who we never saw during filming and Paul Giamatti who only appeared at the wrap party. Keep you posted! And one last note from Steve that we think is a definitely, not hopefully.

Hey, Tink! Does Cosmopolis have an official release date yet?

  • Terrific actor….I went after him….this movie will be so awesome!!!! It’s so cool hearing DC speak about Robert, and, yeah, can’t wait for people to be surprised 🙂

  • So now the king of directors has his say. We knew it way before tho.

I expect Cosmopolis to get nominated for:

    Best film
    Best actor
    Best director
    Best screenplay from a novel
    Special Effects could be likely.
Set Design as Cronenberg’s sets are always perfect

How many do you think it will win. Possibly all I think. Cosmopolis is a major book, although still under appreciated which according to the late great Leo Steinberg is the first sign of greatness. The character of Eric Packer is a great American visionary, not a self-destructive loser. And Packer’s actions are the actions Jean Baudrillard advocates to bring down speculative global capitalism. The coming Wall Street Demonstration is just what Vija Kinski puts down as strengthening the system it purports to weaken. The book, the film, the UK Riots, and now the Wall Street Demo are major political Events. They belong with all their dots connected.

Sure he is and so committed to his work, luckily his fans get older too and ready for more serious movies.
